2020年の第62回グラミー賞のノミネーションが発表されて、リゾが最多8部門、ビリー・アイリッシュとリル・ナズ・Xが6部門にノミネートされている。
ビリー・アイリッシュは最優秀レコード賞、最優秀アルバム賞、最優秀楽曲賞、最優秀新人賞、最優秀ポップ・ソロ・パフォーマンス賞、最優秀ポップ・アルバム賞でノミネートされている。
テイラー・スウィフトやラナ・デル・レイも複数ノミネートされているポップ部門は女性によるノミネートが大半となっているが、一方でロックやメタル、オルタナティヴ、ラップといったジャンルでは男性によるノミネートが大半を締めている。2019年のグラミー賞では女性の受賞者が82％増加していた。
トム・ヨーク、ボン・イヴェール、ジェイムス・ブレイク、ケミカル・ブラザーズ、ヴァンパイア・ウィークエンドらもノミネートされているほか、最優秀ロック・アルバム賞ではザ・クランベリーズが最後のアルバム『イン・ジ・エンド』でノミネートされている。同作はリード・シンガーであるドロレス・オリオーダンが2018年に亡くなった後に完成されている。
ルイス・キャパルディは先日、全米シングル・チャートの1位を獲得した“Someone You Loved”が最優秀楽曲賞にノミネートされている。
ラップのカテゴリーではオフセット、カーディ・B、ニプシー・ハッスル、DJキャレド、リル・ナズ・X、21サヴェージ、ミーク・ミルらがノミネートされている。
2019年のグラミー賞授賞式はロサンゼルスで2月10日に開催され、カーディ・B、ドレイク、アリアナ・グランデらが賞を手にしている。
