エド・シーランは第60回グラミー賞に2部門でしかノミネートされておらず、最優秀ポップ・ソロ・パフォーマンス賞と最優秀ポップ・ヴォーカル・アルバム賞にはノミネートされているが、それ以外はノミネートされていない。
現地時間12月1日に「エレンの部屋」に出演した際、司会のエレン・デジェネレスはエド・シーランがもっとノミネートされなかったことに「激怒している」と語っている。それに対してエド・シーランは次のように応じている。「それについての僕の意見としてはある年は自分の年であっても、ある年は自分のものじゃないってことでね。おそらく今年は僕の年じゃなかったんだよ」
エレン・デジェネレスが“Shape Of You”が「頭から離れないの、そう、ずっとね」と言うと、エド・シーランは次のように語っている。「でも、それがいいんだよ。それが勝ったところであってね。そこから正統性は生まれるわけでね。実際にみんなが曲を楽しんでるのを見られるわけだからさ。みんなが近寄ってきて、『この曲は僕のウェディング・ソングなんだ』とか『この曲でファースト・キスをしたんだ』とか言われる暮らしのほうがいいと思うけどね」
