新型コロナウイルスのパンデミックのために「ウェビーズ・フロム・ホーム」と題された第24回ウェビー賞のノミネーションが発表され、ビリー・アイリッシュやポスト・マローン、ボン・イヴェールらが候補に入っている。
国際デジタル芸術科学アカデミーは現地時間4月28日にWeb/インターネット分野での優れた作品を評価するノミネーションを発表している。今年のウェビー賞では新型コロナウイルスの世界的感染に対応してインターネットを活用した個人や組織にも賞が贈られる。
ウェビー賞のエグゼクティヴ・プロデューサーであるクレア・グレイヴスは声明で次のように述べている。「インターネットは今や私たちを繋ぎ止めるものとなっています。お互いに支え合い、元気づける最も強力なツールなのです。今年の候補がその先頭に立つ人物や企業であるのは驚くことではありません」
「自分たちのプラットフォームを危機に対応するために使うことで創造力を加速させ、革新を起こし、繋がり合い、情報をもたらすことで、世界各地の人々を手助けしているのです」

ウェビー賞は国際デジタル芸術科学アカデミーによって選考されるが、ピープルズ・ヴォイス賞のために一般投票も受け付けられている。受賞者は5月19日に発表される。
ウェビー賞はアメリカの有権者登録を促す「Vote.org」とも提携していて、ウェビー賞のコミュニティのメンバーは有権者登録を行うことができる。
