ディアンジェロが1995年に発売したデビュー・アルバム『ブラウン・シュガー』のデラックス・エディションが8月25日に発売されることが決定している。
『ブラウン・シュガー』はディアンジェロが生み出したデビュー作で、1990年代のニュー・クラシック・ソウル／ネオ・ソウル・ムーヴメントはここから始まったと言われている。
今回発売されるデラックス・エディションのディスク1には最新リマスターされた本編10曲に加えてアカペラ・ヴァージョンやインストゥルメンタル・ヴァージョンなど5トラックが追加され、ディスク2にはキング・テックやデフ・スクワッドらが手がけた名曲のリミックス・ヴァージョンやレディオ・エディットなどのレア音源全16曲が収録される。リマスターはグラミー賞を受賞経験もあるラッセル・エレヴァドが担当している。
CDはデジパック仕様で発売され、20ページのブックレットには音楽評論家でもあり、映像プロデューサーでもあるネルソン・ジョージのエッセイ、貴重な写真の数々が掲載される。iTunesではアルバムの予約も受け付けられている。
