グリーン・デイのフロントマンであるビリー・ジョー・アームストロングは現地時間3月25日にザ・カヴァーアップス名義でサプライズ・ライヴをカリフォルニア州バークレーのコーナーストーンで行っている。
ライヴはインスタグラムで当日の15時にライヴを告知されたとのことで、ザ・カヴァーアップスは5月2日にオークランドのフォックス・シアターでライヴを行うことも決定している。
この日は全30曲が演奏されたとのことで、オジー・オズボーンの“Crazy Train”やデヴィッド・ボウイの“Ziggy Stardust”、ブライアン・アダムスの“Summer of ’69”などが演奏されている。

2018年に結成されたザ・カヴァーアップスはビリー・ジョー・アームストロング、マイク・ダーントのほか、グリーン・デイのツアー・メンバーであるジェイソン・ホワイト、エンジニアのクリス・デュガン、マネージャーのビル・シュナイダーというメンバーとなっている。最近のライヴにはマイク・ダーントは参加していない。
先月、グリーン・デイはスーパーボウルのオープニング・セレモニーで数々のヒット曲を披露している。
グリーン・デイは地元イースト・ベイ近郊のカリフォルニア州サンタ・クララにあるリーバイス・スタジアムで60回目を迎えたスーパーボウルのオープニング・セレモニーの舞台に上がっている。
これまでのスーパーボウルのMVPが登場する中で“Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life”からパフォーマンスはスタートし、『アメリカン・イディオット』より“Holiday”、“Boulevard Of Broken Dreams”、“American Idiot”がメドレーで披露されている。
