デヴィッド・ボウイは1971年12月発表の『ハンキー・ドリー』のリリースへと繋がる、1971年という約12ヵ月間のホーム・デモやスタジオ・ライヴ音源といった未発表音源と共にまとめた4CD+Blu-Rayオーディオの5枚組ボックスセット『ディヴァイン・シンメトリー』が海外で11月25日にリリースされることが決定している。

本作は当時のホーム・デモ音源や、BBCラジオ・セッション音源、ライヴ音源やスタジオ・レコーディング音源といった、48曲もの未発表曲やデモ音源などを含む貴重な音源の数々に加え、オリジナル・プロデューサーであるケン・スコットの手によるアルバム『ハンキー・ドリー』のオルタナティヴ・ミックス音源などが収録される。

『ディヴァイン・シンメトリー』には4CD+Blu-Rayオーディオに加え、2冊の本が同梱される。一つは、貴重なメモラビリアや写真、そして詳細なライナーノーツなどが掲載された100ページにも及ぶ豪華ハードカヴァー・ブックで、もう一つは当時のボウイのノートを復刻した、手書きの歌詞や衣装のデザイン画、レコーディング時のメモやセットリストなどを掲載した60ページのブックレットとなっている。

100ページのハードカヴァー・ブックには、ボウイの専門家であるトリス・ペンナによる書き下ろしのライナーノーツに加え、アルバム『ハンキー・ドリー』で共同プロデューサーとして関わったケン・スコットや、ボウイの生涯の友人であるジェフ・マコーマックとジョージ・アンダーウッド、シンガーのダナ・ギレスピー、ギタリストのマーク・プリチェット、イギリスのクラブ、フライアーズ・アリスバーリーのプロモーターであるデヴィッド・ストップス、出版のボブ・グレースやカメラマンのルアン・リチャードといったボウイとゆかりのある人々の寄稿文も掲載されている。

1971年、デヴィッド・ボウイは新たにRCAとレコード契約を結び、アンディ・ウォーホルやルー・リード、イギー・ポップと出会い、父親となり、そして父親としての誇りを示すために「Kooks」という楽曲を書き上げ、6月にはミック・ロンソンとウッディ・ウッドマンジー、トレヴァー・ボルダーという、後にスパイダース・フロム・マーズと名付けられるバンドと共に初めてライヴを行い、そして名盤『ハンキー・ドリー』をレコーディングしている。

ボックス・セット『ディヴァイン・シンメトリー』の発売情報と共に“Kooks (Sounds Of The 70s: Bob Harris)”の音源が公開されている。この音源はBBCのボブ・ハリスが司会を務める『サウンズ・オブ・ザ・70‘s』のためにボウイとギタリストのミック・ロンソンがロンドンのケンジントン・ハウス、シェファードブッシュ、スタジオT1でレコーディングしたものとなっている。

また、2023年2月24日にはボックスセットから12曲を収録した『ア・ディヴァイン・シンメトリー(アン・オルタナティヴ・ジャーニー・スルー・ハンキー・ドリー)』のアナログ盤がリリースされることも決定している。
